Your binder is a place for you to personalise your Great British Chefs profile and save your favourite recipes and pages from around the site. Add your favourites by using the heart, organise them in folders and create your own collections.
You can add any page which has the heart icon in the menu at the top of the page.
The pages which can be added to your binder are: recipes, features, chefs, collections, restaurants and how-to-cook articles
This works slightly differently depending on what type of device you are using. Please find the type of device you have and follow the instructions for adding items.
Desktop
Add through the menu
You can add an item to your binder via the menu:
1. As you scroll down the page, the main menu changes to a smaller version to allow you to do more things on that page.
2. If the page can be added to your binder, a heart and a folder icon will appear on this smaller menu.
3. Click on the heart to quickly add the item to your binder or click on the folder icon to add the item to a folder.
Add while browsing
While browsing, you will see lots of pieces of content throughout the site such as related articles or recipes.
1. Hover your mouse over the item image to reveal the binder icons.
2. Click on the heart to quickly add the item to your binder or the folder icon to add the item to a folder.

Please note, you can add the following pages to your binder: recipes, features, chefs, collections, restaurants and how-to-cook articles.
You can add a folder the following ways:
1. In your binder, use the ‘Add a folder’ option on the left of your binder pages.
2. When you click on the folder icon, there is the option to add a new folder.
When a page is added to your binder it has a filled heart icon. To remove the page from your binder, click on the filled heart and it will revert to the heart outline which will indicate that the item has been removed.
Rename a folder by selecting it in the binder then clicking the ‘Edit folder’ button.
To access your binder, you must be registered and signed in.

Once you are registered and signed in, you can get to your binder by clicking on your profile picture in the top right-hand corner of the screen and then selecting the ‘My Account/Binder’ option.
Alternatively, you can add this url https://www.greatbritishchefs.com/binder to your bookmarks.
To bookmark your binder, go to https://www.greatbritishchefs.com/binder then add that page to your web browser’s bookmarks via the ‘Bookmarks’ dropdown menu.
To edit your account information, log in to your account, click on your profile picture in the top right-hand corner of the screen and then select the ‘My account/Binder’ option.
Then select the ‘Edit profile’ tab.
You will be asked to verify your identity by entering your password or confirming via Facebook.
You can then edit your account information here. Make sure you click the ‘Save changes’ button to save any changes you make.

Once you have selected one, make sure you click the ‘Save changes’ button.
If you have forgotten your password, click on the ‘Forgotten password’ link on the ‘Sign in’ form.
You will then have to enter the email address with which you registered. An email will then be sent to that address with a link to reset your password.
Click on that link and it will launch a web page instructing you to enter a new password for your account.
To sign in, click on the user icon in the top right-hand corner of the screen and select ‘Sign in’ from the drop down menu.
You can then sign in using Facebook or the email address with which you have previously registered.
If you select ‘Email address’ you will have to enter your email address and password.
To register, click on the user icon in the top right-hand corner of the screen and select ‘Register’ from the drop down.
You can then register using Facebook or your email address.
If you select ‘Email address’ you will have to enter your name and email address and create a new Username and Password.
After you complete the form, you will receive an email to confirm your account. Click the link within and you can then start using your Great British Chefs account.
To sign out, click on your profile picture in the top right-hand corner of your screen and click the sign out button from the dropdown menu.
If you can see the user icon in the right-hand corner, you are already signed out.
To delete your account and all related data, log into your account and select your account. Confirm your identity by entering your password, then click on the field 'Close account and delete all related data'. You will need to re-enter your password and click 'delete.' Your account and related data will be deleted in 3-5 days.
If you notice a problem with the website you can flag it to us via our ‘Contact us’ page. Please select ‘Technical support’ from the ‘Type of enquiry’ dropdown menu.
You can make comments on recipes and features. You'll find the comments section towards the end of the page.
Comments can only be made by registered or logged in users. You can register here. If you are logged in, your username should appear to the right of the comment box.
If you click your profile image at the far right of the menu, you will see a button called comments. This will take you to the page where you can view all of your commenting history.
If you are in your binder or account page, you will be able to go to your comments page via the tabs to the right of the page. Otherwise, you can also access the page via this url.
A red dot will appear next to your profile image on the menu.
If you go to your comments page, you will be able to see who replied and which comment they’ve replied to. Click ‘view discussion’ to go to the page with the reply.
Yes. All the comments you’ve made will have buttons underneath called edit and delete. You have to be logged in to see this.
Under each comment, there will be a reply button. Type your comment in the textbox and post away.
Under each comment to the far right, there is a report button. Make sure you are logged in.
Where the usernames are displayed for each individual comment, click on the username. This will take you to the original comment.

Add while browsing

Print a recipe by clicking on the print icon on the menu at the top of the page.
This will launch a print-ready version of the recipe with a ‘Print’ button on it. Click on this to print the recipe.
Share recipes by clicking on one of the social icons on the left hand side of the recipe steps.
Alternatively, click on the shares button in the menu at the top of the page.
Click the email icon to email the recipe to a friend.
The ‘Shopping list’ option on recipes generates a shopping list of the ingredients included in the recipe divided into ‘aisles’ for easy navigation in the supermarket. Use the check boxes to mark off ingredients on your smart phone or alternatively print out the shopping list for a physical copy using the print button. You can find the ‘Shopping list’ button at the end of the ingredients list on a recipe.
There is currently no way to change the measurements. Please keep an eye on developments on this matter as we are looking to add this functionality soon.
If you notice a problem with a recipe you can flag it to us via our ‘Contact us’ page. Please select ‘Feedback’ from the ‘Type of enquiry’ dropdown menu.
To enter a competition you must first select an answer to the question on the competition page, then you will be asked to enter your email address.
If you have not entered a competition on Great British Chefs before you will then be asked to enter your first and last names. Once you have inputted these details, click the ‘Submit entry’ button.

No, you can only enter a competition once.
No. To give everyone a fair chance of winning, competitions run to the date specified on the competition page and cannot be entered after midnight on the closing date.
