This americano cocktail recipe is an Italian classic, with a recipe that dates back to the 1860s. A precursor to the negroni, the americano offers a more relaxed, less intense approach to aperitivo.

Americano

  • 60ml of Campari
  • 60ml of sweet vermouth
  • 1 dash of soda water
  • ice
  • 1 slice of orange

Method

Fill a heavy-bottomed highball glass with ice

Add the Campari and vermouth then top up with a splash of soda water

Garnish with a slice of fresh orange and serve
